I
will never forget a beautiful red and white Boxer male we had in our
home when I was a young girl.
When I married and finally had plenty of room for a dog, of course it
had to be a Boxer, and definately a red one. Our first Boxer,a plain
red bitch born in 1983, was acquired from a well known kennel Astovega.
Her name was Astovega Fuchsia "Goya". It was after her first
litter in 1984 we made a decision to register a kennel.
Since 1984 we keep breeding Boxers, one, sometimes two, litters a year.
We breed on a small scale in a quiet domestic environment. We are so
lucky to live at the countryside, about 120km north of Oslo, Norway.
We have three bitches in the kennel today - two Boxers and a sweet charming
French Bulldog called Anna. We also own a Norwegian longhaired Forest
Cat.
In 1989 the tail docking ban came to Norway. For some years we had a
couple of long tailed Boxers. As many others we didn't like the tail
at all! In the late 1990s we heard of Dr.Cattanach's bobtail Boxers,
and we really hoped to get one of these dogs up to Norway for breeding.
My wishes came true when Steynmere Hot Shot "Roddy" was imported.
Our bitch, who resided with the co-owner, was bred to this fine English
gentleman with a natural short tail. We had seven nice puppies in this
litter - two females with natural short tails. We kept both - one plain
and one flashy - in our kennel.
We are trying to use the very best males for these girls. In summer
2003 they both had their first litters,
16 puppies in total, all born naturally, none with cleft palate and
none cryptorchid. Eleven out of sixteen had natural short tails. Two
bobtails from these litters were exported to Urkabustaiz kennel in Spain
to become the first bobtail Boxers in Western Europe.
All our dogs and puppies live indoors with us. We do not utilize kennels,
but the dogs are free to go in the garden when they want to. We strive
to provide excellent condition for them. Our dogs are our very best
friends.
